Information
CEPROTIN is a medication primarily used in the treatment and management of severe congenital Protein C deficiency, a rare genetic disorder characterized by a deficiency in Protein C, a natural anticoagulant that helps prevent blood clotting. This condition can lead to an increased risk of forming dangerous blood clots (thrombosis), which can lead to serious health complications such as deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, or stroke. CEPROTIN, a Protein C concentrate derived from human plasma, works by supplementing the levels of Protein C in the body, thereby helping to reduce the risk of clot formation. It is administered through intravenous injection and is often used in both acute treatment settings and as a preventative measure in patients with known congenital Protein C deficiency. As with any plasma-derived product, it is screened for viruses and other infectious agents to ensure safety for recipients.
