COSOPT iMulti is a prescription eye drop medication used in the treatment of certain types of glaucoma and other causes of high eye pressure. It is a combination of two active ingredients, dorzolamide and timolol, which work together to reduce intraocular pressure. Dorzolamide belongs to a class of drugs known as carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, which decrease eye pressure by reducing the production of fluid within the eye. Timolol is a beta-blocker that also reduces pressure within the eye, but through a different mechanism, mainly by decreasing the fluid formation and increasing fluid drainage from the eye. This combination makes COSOPT iMulti effective in managing eye pressure for patients who require more than one type of medication. It is typically used when a single medication has not been effective enough in controlling eye pressure.
