FYCOMPA (perampanel) is a prescription medication used as an adjunctive therapy for the treatment of partial-onset seizures with or without secondarily generalized seizures in patients with epilepsy aged 12 years and older. It is also indicated for the treatment of primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures in individuals with epilepsy aged 12 years and older. FYCOMPA belongs to a class of drugs known as selective non-competitive AMPA (α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid) receptor antagonists. This mechanism of action helps to reduce the excessive electrical activity in the brain that causes seizures. FYCOMPA is available in tablet form and as an oral suspension, allowing for flexibility in dosing.
