Information
Glypressin, also known by its generic name terlipressin, is a synthetic analogue of the hormone vasopressin. It is primarily used in the management of low blood pressure states, particularly in cases of septic shock and variceal bleeding, which is bleeding from enlarged veins in the digestive tract, most commonly the esophagus or stomach. Glypressin works by constricting blood vessels, thereby increasing blood pressure and reducing bleeding. It is administered intravenously under the supervision of healthcare professionals in a hospital setting. Due to its potent vasoactive properties, Glypressin is a critical medication in emergency and critical care medicine, especially for patients with certain types of acute gastrointestinal bleeding and those not responding to conventional therapies for shock.
