Information
Gonapeptyl Depot is a synthetic form of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) used in various medical treatments. It functions by initially increasing the levels of sex hormones (estrogen and testosterone) and then drastically reducing them through a mechanism known as downregulation. This reduction in hormone levels is beneficial in conditions where suppression of estrogen or testosterone is desired, such as in certain cancers (e.g., prostate cancer), endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and in preparation for fertility treatments. Gonapeptyl Depot is administered via injection and is designed to release the medication slowly over time, providing a long-acting effect. This depot formulation allows for less frequent dosing, which can improve patient compliance and comfort.
