JENTADUETO is a prescription medication used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It is a combination of two active ingredients, linagliptin and metformin hydrochloride. Linagliptin belongs to a class of drugs known as dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors, which work by increasing the levels of incretin hormones, thereby increasing insulin release and decreasing glucagon levels in the blood in a glucose-dependent manner. Metformin hydrochloride is a biguanide that decreases hepatic glucose production and intestinal absorption of glucose, as well as improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. Together, these components help control blood sugar levels in individuals with type 2 diabetes, improving glycemic control when diet and exercise alone have not been sufficient. JENTADUETO is taken orally and is available in tablet form.
