Information
Juluca is a prescription medication used in the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in adults. It is a combination antiretroviral medication that contains two active ingredients: dolutegravir and rilpivirine. Dolutegravir is an integrase inhibitor, which works by blocking the virus's integrase enzyme, preventing the viral DNA from integrating into the genetic material of human cells, thereby stopping the virus from replicating. Rilpivirine is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI), which interferes with the action of reverse transcriptase, another enzyme HIV needs to replicate within the body. Juluca is specifically designed for individuals who are virologically suppressed on a stable antiretroviral regimen for at least six months, with no history of treatment failure and no known substitutions associated with resistance to the individual components of Juluca. This medication is taken as a once-daily oral dose, making it a convenient option for long-term HIV management.
