Information
KATYA 30/75 is a combination oral contraceptive pill, commonly used for the prevention of pregnancy. It contains two active ingredients: ethinylestradiol, a synthetic version of the female hormone estrogen, and gestodene, a type of synthetic progestogen. The numbers 30 and 75 refer to the microgram doses of ethinylestradiol and gestodene, respectively, in each tablet. By mimicking the natural hormones in a woman's body, KATYA 30/75 works primarily by preventing ovulation, the release of an egg from the ovaries. Additionally, it thickens the mucus in the cervix, making it difficult for sperm to enter the uterus, and alters the lining of the uterus to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg. This contraceptive is typically taken once daily for 21 days followed by a 7-day pill-free break, during which a withdrawal bleed (similar to a menstrual period) usually occurs. Like all contraceptives, it is important to take KATYA 30/75 as directed to maintain its effectiveness.
