Information
Livial, generically known as Tibolone, is a synthetic hormone replacement therapy (HRT) medication primarily used to alleviate symptoms associated with menopause, such as hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings. It is unique in that it mimics the activity of the female hormones estrogen and progesterone, as well as the male hormone testosterone, to a certain extent. This makes it particularly effective in not only relieving menopausal symptoms but also in preventing osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Livial works by restoring the hormonal balance in the body, which is disrupted during menopause. It is typically prescribed to women who have had their last menstrual period at least 12 months prior and is taken orally in tablet form. As with any hormone replacement therapy, it is important to use Livial under the guidance of a healthcare professional due to potential side effects and contraindications.
