Information
Lucette is a type of oral contraceptive pill, commonly referred to as a birth control pill, that is used to prevent pregnancy. It is a combined contraceptive, meaning it contains two types of female sex hormones: an estrogen (ethinylestradiol) and a progestogen (drospirenone). These hormones work together to stop the ovaries from releasing an egg each month (ovulation). They also thicken the mucus at the neck of the womb, making it harder for sperm to reach an egg, and thin the lining of the womb, reducing the likelihood of a fertilized egg implanting. Lucette is also prescribed to help manage acne in some women and to treat symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) in others, providing benefits beyond contraception for those who take it.
