Norgeston is an oral contraceptive pill that is primarily used for preventing pregnancy. It belongs to a group of medications known as progestogen-only pills (POPs), which contain a synthetic form of the hormone progesterone. Unlike combined oral contraceptives, Norgeston does not contain estrogen, making it a suitable option for women who cannot take estrogen for various reasons, such as those who are breastfeeding or have certain health conditions. Norgeston works by thickening the mucus in the cervix, which makes it difficult for sperm to enter the womb, and by altering the lining of the womb to prevent a fertilized egg from implanting. It is taken daily at the same time without a break between packs.
