Information
OCUFEN (generic name: flurbiprofen sodium) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) formulated for ophthalmic use. It is primarily prescribed to prevent and reduce inflammation in the eye. OCUFEN is often used by eye care professionals during certain types of eye surgery, such as cataract extraction, to help maintain pupil size by preventing intraoperative miosis (pupil constriction). Additionally, it can be used to treat seasonal allergic conjunctivitis and other inflammatory conditions of the eye as determined by an eye care professional. The medication works by inhibiting certain substances in the body that cause inflammation, thereby reducing swelling, pain, and redness in the eye. It is typically administered as eye drops. Like all medications, OCUFEN may have side effects, and its use should be closely monitored by a healthcare provider.
