PONVORY (ponesimod) is a prescription medication used for the treatment of adults with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS), including clinically isolated syndrome, relapsing-remitting disease, and active secondary progressive disease. It belongs to a class of drugs known as sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor modulators. PONVORY works by modulating the immune system to reduce the inflammatory response that attacks the myelin sheath of nerve fibers in the central nervous system, which is a characteristic of MS. This action helps to decrease the frequency of relapse episodes and can slow the progression of physical disability associated with MS.
