Information
Pylobactell is a diagnostic agent used primarily to detect Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection in the stomach and duodenum. H. pylori is a type of bacteria that can cause peptic ulcers and is associated with the development of gastric cancer. Pylobactell works by utilizing the urea breath test (UBT) method. It contains a urea solution labeled with a non-radioactive isotope. When ingested, if H. pylori bacteria are present in the stomach, they will metabolize the labeled urea, releasing carbon dioxide that is then exhaled. By analyzing the exhaled breath, healthcare providers can determine the presence of H. pylori infection. This test is non-invasive, quick, and provides accurate results, making it a preferred method for diagnosing H. pylori infections.
