UCDs are rare but serious genetic disorders that result in a deficiency of one of the enzymes in the urea cycle, which is responsible for removing ammonia from the bloodstream. High levels of ammonia in the blood can be toxic and lead to serious health issues, including brain damage, coma, or death. RAVICTI works by providing an alternative pathway for the removal of ammonia from the body. It is a liquid medication taken orally and must be used under the supervision of a healthcare provider experienced in the management of UCDs.
