Seroxat, known generically as paroxetine, is a medication primarily used in the treatment of major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and, in some cases, premenstrual dysphoric disorder. It belongs to a class of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), which work by increasing the levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter associated with mood regulation, in the brain.
