Information
Targretin, known generically as bexarotene, is a medication primarily used in the treatment of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL), a type of skin cancer. It belongs to a class of drugs known as retinoids, which are synthetic derivatives of vitamin A. Targretin works by binding to specific receptors in the body, leading to the activation of processes that inhibit the growth of cancer cells and induce their death. It is available in both capsule form for oral administration and as a topical gel. Targretin is typically prescribed for use in patients whose disease has not adequately responded to other forms of treatment. As with any medication, it can cause side effects, and its use must be closely monitored by a healthcare professional.
