Information
Travatan, generically known as travoprost, is a prescription medication used in the treatment of certain types of glaucoma and other forms of high eye pressure, known as ocular hypertension. It belongs to a class of drugs known as prostaglandin analogs. Travatan works by increasing the outflow of aqueous humor, the fluid in the eye, which in turn helps to lower the pressure inside the eye. This reduction in intraocular pressure can prevent damage to the optic nerve, thereby preventing the loss of vision associated with glaucoma. Travatan is typically administered as eye drops and is used once daily, usually in the evening. Like all medications, it can have side effects, so it's important for patients to use it exactly as prescribed by their healthcare provider.
