Information
Triumeq is a prescription medication used in the treatment of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus), the virus responsible for AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome). It is a combination antiretroviral medication that contains three active ingredients: abacavir, dolutegravir, and lamivudine. These components work together to prevent the virus from multiplying, which helps to lower the amount of HIV in the body and increase the immune system's ability to fight off infections. Triumeq is taken orally in tablet form and is used as part of antiretroviral therapy (ART) to manage HIV in adults and children who weigh at least 40 kilograms. It is important for patients to be tested for a genetic marker called HLA-B*5701 before starting treatment with Triumeq, as those with this marker may have a higher risk of experiencing a hypersensitivity reaction to abacavir, one of the components of Triumeq.
