TRUSOPT is a prescription medication primarily used in the treatment of certain types of glaucoma and other eye conditions that cause high pressure within the eye, such as ocular hypertension. The active ingredient in TRUSOPT is dorzolamide hydrochloride, which belongs to a class of drugs known as carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. By inhibiting the enzyme carbonic anhydrase, TRUSOPT reduces the production of aqueous humor (the fluid in the eye), thereby decreasing intraocular pressure. This reduction in eye pressure can help prevent damage to the optic nerve and loss of vision associated with high eye pressure.
