Information
Xalacom is a prescription medication used in the treatment of certain types of glaucoma and other forms of high eye pressure, known as ocular hypertension. It is a combination drug, containing two active ingredients: latanoprost and timolol. Latanoprost belongs to a class of medications known as prostaglandin analogs, which work by increasing the outflow of aqueous fluid from the eyes to lower intraocular pressure. Timolol is a beta-blocker that reduces the production of fluid within the eye. Together, these components effectively reduce the elevated pressure inside the eye, helping to prevent further eye damage and vision loss associated with high intraocular pressure. Xalacom is administered as eye drops and is typically used once daily. As with any medication, it is important to use Xalacom under the guidance of a healthcare professional to ensure its safe and effective use.
