Information
Xatral, known generically as alfuzosin, is a medication primarily used in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a condition commonly referred to as an enlarged prostate. It belongs to a class of drugs known as alpha-1 receptor antagonists, which work by relaxing the muscles in the bladder neck and prostate, making it easier to urinate and alleviating symptoms such as difficulty in starting urination, weak stream, and the need to urinate frequently or urgently. Xatral is designed for oral administration and is typically taken once daily, immediately after a meal. While it can significantly improve urination symptoms associated with BPH, it is important to note that Xatral does not decrease the size of the prostate but rather eases the flow of urine by reducing the muscle tension.
