Information
Zinforo, known generically as ceftaroline fosamil, is a cephalosporin antibiotic used in the treatment of a range of bacterial infections. It is particularly effective against Gram-positive bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), making it a valuable option in the fight against drug-resistant bacterial infections. Zinforo works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, ultimately leading to cell death. It is administered intravenously and is used to treat conditions such as acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI) and community-acquired bacterial pneumonia (CABP). Due to its targeted action and effectiveness against resistant strains, Zinforo is a critical tool in modern antibiotic therapy, although its use is typically reserved for cases where other antibiotics are ineffective or inappropriate.
