Information
Zovirax I.V. (Intravenous) is a prescription medication primarily used for the treatment of infections caused by certain types of viruses. It contains acyclovir as its active ingredient, which belongs to a class of medications known as antivirals. Zovirax I.V. is specifically designed for intravenous administration, allowing for direct delivery into the bloodstream for rapid action against the virus. It is most commonly used to treat severe outbreaks of herpes simplex viruses, including genital herpes, and to manage or prevent herpes simplex infections in patients with compromised immune systems. Additionally, it is used in the treatment of varicella-zoster virus, which causes chickenpox and shingles. Zovirax I.V. works by inhibiting the replication of viral DNA, thereby reducing the severity of the infection and helping to speed up the healing process.
